Turn the light filter to the open circle.
<aside> ❗
Do NOT use the green light filter. This is often mistaken for the blue light that we use for fluorescein exams.

Use the vertical knob to make the light beam tall.
Use the horizontal knob to make your light beam narrow.
Center your light source directly in front of the eyepieces. The dial should read 90 degrees.
Pull the eyepieces close together, then slowly pull them apart until you see one image with both of your eyes open.
Set the eyepiece focus to 0.
<aside> 👓
The only time you need to change the focus is if you’re currently wearing glasses and you want to take them off for your exam. If so, set the focus to whatever your prescription is.

Set the magnification to 10x to start.
